At the end of each section of this handbook you will find a checklist of good practice for managers in scouting. We suggest that you use these to self-check your own effectiveness in providing support to the adults that work in your Scout Group.
It’s important that you look critically at what you do because sometimes we all fall into the trap of believing we are doing things right and therefore don’t have any problems.
If you feel that there is something that you would like to work on to improve the way your section operates then do remember that it’s unlikely you need to start from scratch. Somebody somewhere will have already done it and it will be available for your use. So don’t commit to lots of work reinventing the wheel. The District GSL’s meeting is a great opportunity for you to share
good practice and find out what is working well in the other groups in the district. Our County Development Service can also help by sharing great ideas that they have picked up group throughout the county and from around the UK.
